Who is Saint Uriel?
Uriel is the name of one of the archangels who is mentioned in the post-exilic rabbinic tradition and in certain Christian traditions. He is well known in the Russian Orthodox tradition (which considers him to be one of the seven major archangels) and recognized in the Anglican Church as the 4th archangel. Uriel is often identified as a cherub and the angel of repentance. He “stands at the Gate of Eden with a fiery sword.” He is often depicted carrying a book or a papyrus scroll representing wisdom.
Saint Uriel is the patron saint of arts and sciences
